As of April 15, 2010, approximately 13,600 H-1B cap (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html)-subject petitions had been filed. USCIS has approved 5,800 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees.
Many immigration lawyers are seeing a sharp decline in the interest in the H1B visa this year by potential employers and workers. Some are saying that the downturn in H1B applications this year could be as much as 60%. As a result of this decline, there are predictions that the quota will not be reached within the first few months of this year. Rather, many suspect that the bachelor's quota won't be reached until the middle of July, and that the master's quota won't be reached until later this June.
We shall see how the number will play out in the next few months.

Hi,
I had a question regarding the july bulletin where it was mentioned that Old fees is entertained for employment based petetions while family based it would be new fees for I485.
Mine was applied by my company on July 2nd with old fees and Spouse's was applied on August 3rd with old fee and was rejected! I-140 was approved on August 8th and applied in March 2007!
Did they confuse with family based and rejected for fees?
Spouse should also be employment based right!
Can somebody answer my question?

Your wait really starts when you gets your I140 approved. After that you can do all is to wait for 8/9/10/11 dates every month to watch the visa bulletins [:(]

That requirement is only for foreign passport holders travelling on visa/or visa waiver.
Us citizens are required tp present a non-expired passport, it does not say how long the passport needs to be valid for

We have received our EAD cards without having Finger Print done. We have received FP notice and scheduled for the next week but received our EAD cards.
EAD cards says "No Finger print available" on the right corner. Will this cause any problems?

For the past few months, there have been no green cards available for persons in the employment-based third preference category (EB-3) and long backlogs in the EB-2 category for persons born in India and China. So, with few green cards to grant, why has the USCIS been scheduling interviews for persons in these categories? * AILA has reported that the TSC corrected the error in its 05/15/2008 processing time report for the I-140 processing times. The date of 08/26/2007 was an error and the correct date should have been 07/16/2007. The official report will be corrected soon :(

Bill Clinton was in Cisco Campus last week in connection with some strategic meeting for Cisco, which they have it yearly at Monterey, CA. Clinton has made it clear to its employees, they come first in line in respect to immigration/Green Cards. Rest follow. So it may be a good idea if followed up with Bill. He supports Tech Industry. Apparently, employees have access to this info via Video On Demand internally.

Thanks to reader Adi for the link. Huffington Post reports on a data compiled by America's Voice showing crime in Arizona dropping dramatically across the state for most of the last decade EXCEPT for the area controlled by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Which goes to show you that facts matter very little to Arizonans buying into the antis arguments.

I've attended hundreds of meetings of immigration lawyers in my career. Many of them have exhibited characteristics of 12-step groups in which we formed circles of victimhood, and "admitted that we were powerless over [INS, USCIS, DOL, State, etc.]and that our lives had become unmanageable." Hi,
I got a RFE while doing my H1B transfer under premium processing. They have stated to respond within 60 days. Does anybody have an idea as to whether it takes so long or it gets resolved soon under premium processing? Please help.
Once they recieve the response, if they are satisfied, the same day they will approve. It will not take that long depending on the type of RFE.
